Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Groupthink!

It's 2017 and you have your own opinion about race relations, a tragedy, something positive, possibly even an apologist position.. Do you post it? Say it out loud? Put it on Social Media? Or do you meditate upon it in your mind relegating it the graveyard of old thoughts where it will rest as the silt of un-spokeness slowly covers it into its own mass grave to lay beholden to previous thoughts in previous years of previous issues.

It's 2017 and this is a real possibility.

Leaders are yearned for in Politics, Healthcare, Academia, and many other industries and pursuits across our great nation and across the globe. Sadly- even so far as despicably- when a leader arrives on the scene and toes become black and blue from the ensuing stomping that is well deserved, a leader can soon become a pariah. Well she said this and he said that and though you're right, it's still not fair... and so on and such forth.

Statistics belies the falsehoods, yet the ones who need to hear the truth the most will become ostrich positioned with their noses in the sand and rear ends to the sky. They'll stick their fingers in their ears lalalalalalala we can't hear you!!! and mock the only one on the pedestal who is proselytizing what they need to hear most.

Hospitals go bankrupt; Universities shut down free speech; and Politics are gridlocked. The ostriches feel a sense of relief and pull their heads from the sand as they swing their hips in giddy relief of We won again!! only to feel their retinas burn from the light, and with great speed they bury their heads once more preferring the darkness of ignorance rather than the light of truth.

Moral of story: don't be an ostrich.
